Rise is an 11” x 14” open edition giclée print by Samhita Kamisetty, a visual artist based in Brooklyn, New York.
The intricate motifs and patterns in the framework are drawn from Tattreez, a form of Palestinian embroidery that has been preserved through oral history from mother to daughter. Tirazain, a digital and interactive archive dedicated to preserving this centuries-old art form, was used as a reference.The flowers depicted are Blue Flax, Yellow Daisy, Thyme, Poppy, and Toothpick Weed, reminiscent of the flowers that bloom in the springtime in Palestine.
